HAIKUMANIA at CDDC VIRGINIA TECH
Making a Photo-haiga
The pupils from Oswestry took many photographs on their ginko (haiku walk)
through the grounds of Quinta. Choose a photograph and write a haiku to go with it. The haiku should try not to just describe the picture but in some way link with the image to 'take us somewhere else'.

Here is a photo taken by a pupil during the walk. If you click on it you will see it with a haiku added to it by the Norwegian poet o g aksnes.

Below are some more pictures taken by the Oswestry students. If you click on them you'll see the photo actual size.

You'll need to save the picture you want to work with and then open it up in your graphics program (ask your workshop leader to show you how to do his if you're not sure).

Study the picture and write a haiku to go with it  - you can play with the image if you want and then add you haiku or just leave the photo as it is. Remember 'phrase and fragment' or 'fragment and phrase'.

You don't have to put the haiku on the photo - if you prefer you can put your haiku alongside the photograph - Click here to see an example

Don't forget to save your haiku and 'haiga'.
Ask your workshop leader where to save them - print them off too!
